JANET MACOSKA

Stand up comic Dana Austin performs her comedy routine at the Womyn's Variety Show on February 11. The longest-running women's event of its kind in Cleveland, and possibly the nation, celebrated its 37th anniversary that evening at Park Synagogue's Kangesser Hall in Cleveland Heights.

The show featured a mix of new talent and old favorites, along with a popular afterparty complete with raffles for gift certificates to restaurants, massages, dog grooming, haircuts, manicures, the Cleveland Film Festival tickets and more.

Austin noted that she started her comedic career over a decade ago at the show and views performing as a way of paying it forward.

"Without the opportunity to perform at the Variety Show so many years ago, I don't think I would be performing today," she said. "The Variety Show supported me and any time I'm available, I'll support the show. I love seeing people I haven't seen in years and enjoy the very talented performers that show up. They're all so passionate about it."
